Viral: Payment Of Electricity Bill Being Left Outside The House In Batanes

In Batanes, honesty is a way of life.

On a post shared by Aleth Mata who is a payment collector of electricity bill from Batanes Electric Corp (BATANELCO), a payment is seen being left outside the house inside a plastic bag.

It is a habit of resident Carmen Castillo to leave its payment for the electric bill outside their house in Brgy, Kayvaluganan, Basco, Batanes while they working at the farm. It is most residents of Batanes to leave their payments and not a single person gets the payment other than the collector.

According to Mata, is the habit of Ivatan people to be honest to everyone. Look at this also leaving their payment:

Only in Batanes: Written is “Dear Batalenco collector, ito bayad ng electric bill. Ilagay na lang dito resibo. Walang tao dito. Thank you!”

Residents of Batanes are spreading the goodness of being honest, just like the Honesty store where you just log down the item you get and drop your payment without any cashier or guard inside the store. Batanes is being empowered with honesty together with its magnificent nature.
