The study was based on 689 land-based OFW working in Asia, Europe and Middle East countries. It was conducted by National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

The study “Common Health Problems Among Overseas Filipino Workers [OFWs],” confirmed that OFW suffer from such diseases due to poor condition of workplace, unfamiliar weather conditions and verbal abuse by their employers.

OFW given the title as modern day heroes of the Philippines must be fully aware and better to understand in order to utilize the proper well-being.

Better working conditions must have free medical consultation, clinics for employees, provision of first-aid kit in the workplace and others, but some OFW’s doesn’t have any of those in the workplace.

Additional woes to OFWs health when being overworked, forced to works more than 10 hours a day, sometime no day-off and exposure to occupational hazards.
