In order to get closer to the supply chain, Vivo set up a 5G research and development center (R&D) in Hsinchu, Taiwan as the firm looks to secure leadership in the 5G market.
China-based Vivo expected to ship over 80 million units locally and 100 million units worldwide in 2019. Vivo has the third position in smartphone market in China.
Apart from establishing R&D Center in Taiwan, Vivo also built seven R&D centers globally that includes Beijing, Nanjing, Dongguan, San Diego, New Delhi, Jakarta and Dhaka.
The company is implementing its 2,000 and over 5G-related patents like antenna design, power-saving, fast-charging and heat dissipation, according to sources.
