8.6°C sets new record in Taiwan, warning cold advisory expanded to 11 counties


Central Weather Bureau (CWB) expanded their list of cities and counties under the yellow warning for cold advisory from five to 11 as the continental cold air mass is hitting Taiwan.


The 11 Counties and cities with low-temperature advisory includes Miaoli County, New Taipei City, Hsinchu County, Taoyuan City, Taipei City, Chiayi County, Chiayi City, Yunlin County, Kaohsiung City, Tainan City, and Kinmen County.

Lowest temperature recorded as of early Sunday morning was 8.6 degrees in Taoyuan's Daxi District, while Taipei's Daan and Wenshan Districts each recorded 9.8 degrees


According to CWB there are still chances that the temperature can hit below the yellow warning.

CWB advisory system are as follows, red denotes temperatures under 6 degrees for 24 hours onwards, orange is when a minimum of 6 degrees for less than 24 hours, and yellow means a low of below 10 degrees or 24 hours of temperatures below 12 degrees.

The cold air mass will weaken starting Monday but rain showers may affect Taiwan according to CWB.
