Apparently, Filipinos are somehow judgemental towards Chinese due to the ground zero of the virus came from Wuhan from the province of Hubei in China.

  1. I do appreciate this. I wish we could not throw our humanity just because of the virus. The arriving of Chinese people to our country may pose a huge threat towards our own health, but do you not think on how scared these Chinese people are? How they want to go to a place that is safe? How they want to save their lives and children? Look at these people who are doing their outmost effort to minimize their discrimination. You are afraid of the virus I get that, but are we all not? Imagine a person witnessed the virus by their own eyes, would this person not be utterly scared? You are scared, I too am scared for my family, but this doesn't mean we should throw our humanity for this. Our own values thought by our ancestors and our religion is not to shut these people out. Filipinos are hospitable and good people. Fear for the virus shall not falter us. Plus, these people are our Brothers and Sisters in God. We should be helping one another. We are all concerned about the threat getting to us and our families, but how about the chinese that doesn't have the virus? How about their families and their lives? Is it ok for them to bare this own burden to themselves, and we should stay out of it because it's not our problem?.... yet? Is that what our families thought to us? I believe we should help this people but alas with the right action and the right precaution. Why not gave this people an island here in the Philippines and let them stay there to take the test and be under observation for a certain amount of time, if they were to show symptoms of the virus they will be quarantined and if they are negative, they can now venture out to our cities. That Island would have a full equiptment with the right materials and right precaution for the testing and quarantine. What if we do that? Would it not be possible? Being humane and being cautious for safety at the same time.

    2. look at how close minded you are! think if this happens and its our country is the ground zero what would you feel if they will ban us just because it originated in our place and you are not infected with the virus?

    3. We have families to take care too. Would you risk your family's life just to save these people?

  2. I agree. I empathize with those fleeing from the epidemic in their home towns. Discrimination has no place in this day and age. I think most Filipinos, especially those without any healthcare insurance are more afraid of the lack of medical facilities in the Philippines in treating the infection, and that they are also more worried about any possible medical expense if they contract the virus. I doubt if our government will help them with free treatment.

  5. At the very least, I wish our fellow Filipinos would also learn to soften their misguided feelings of animosity. Thank you, sir, for your lovely perspective and for being empathetic. Amidst all these hateful comments and judgemental snips that I've been reading and hearing, you've restored my faith in humanity. Thank you.

  6. I think it's not only Filipinos tht have biases towards Chinese. From Indonesia, Singapore, Denmark, France, the U.S., Australia, Japan, and many more have done the same thing. North Korea is doing the sme thing, closing its borders to China about this matter. Even other chinese regions have biases for Wuhan people as what I've read. Also, Hong Kong and Taiwan feel the same wy too for China. It's not racism or anything, it's just self-protection so don't single out FIlipinos are judge-mental . If CHina or chinese would have been respectful to a lot of its neighbors by not claiming a lot of territories that are not theirs, by behaving properly tht Chinese tourists don't do, not stealing many intellectual properties, China would have gotten the love and respect they deserve. Anywya, I wish China and chinese will make it through these tough times.

  7. Sorry to China. We're not being racist here. We're just scared to get infected by the virus itself because we don't have much money to pay for medical expenses. If we might get infected, we're not able to work. If we're not able to work, we can't earn money. If we can't earn money, how can we buy our necessities such as food, water, medicine, and other stuffs not just for ourselves but for our family members as well. We have old and young members in our family and they don't have strong immune system anymore to fight for Corona Virus. We don't want to see them suffering if they might get infected because of that virus.

It doesn't matter which country it might came from. We're just thinking about our safety. Kahit nga simpleng lagnat lang, ang hirap2 indahin kapag nagta-trabaho ka, yan pa kaya. It's better that way. I can't see anything wrong with that. They were just protecting us or themselves as well.

  9. China is HUGE I'm sure they can find a safe haven. Why bring the virus to other country? As you well know china took an island so why feel for them? Why bring the virus to the Philippines? The president need to close them off and stop the spread of virus. It needs to be contained in just 1 location and not let that spread around the world.

  10. Simple, no discrimination, just be vigilant and protect and warn people not to stay in large crowds.. protect your family by doing the necessary procedures to avoid the virus. A virus is a virus, this communicable disease is deadly in just days. The only cure we have are 3P's since we don't have the facility to cure... Protect, Prevent, Prayers.

  11. Reading your coments give me mixed emotions, lets just stop banging those Chinese people, they just want to live longer, why don't you put your selves in their shoes? What we feel is the same feeling they have as of the moment, lets be vigilant, yes we are all thinking about the welfare of out family,we can also do that while helping and extending our hand to those people. Dont you get the point of that statement " Filipino only" behind those discrimination they recieve they are also thinking about the Filipinos safety, instead of their selves. Lets do this together, let's stop the virus together and lets pray for everybody's safety, and lety pray that this birus outbreak will end soon,God Bless us all.

  12. As I read the comments, I realize that this is what fear does to us, yet you call yourselves people with faith. what a shame it is to the beliefs you believe in, almost all religions teach peace, hospitality, hope, and many more, yet you the believers have non of those. Rethink your position in your faith everyone, I have a feeling non of us will be ready for the future, we need each other more than ever.. whatever your religion is, you must still learn how to set aside your differences and work for the better good..
