A powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the western Caribbean on Tuesday, about 80 miles from Jamaica, shaking people in the Caribbean and as far away as Miami in Florida.
The earthquake triggers evacuations as buildings shook across the Cayman Islands, in Jamaica, and in downtown Miami.
The epicenter of the quake was in the sea between Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and Cuba, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles (10 km).
There were several aftershocks, including one the US Geological Survey said had a magnitude of 6.1. The quakes come three weeks after a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Puerto Rico.
