Taiwan's representative office in the Philippines, the Taiwan Economic & Cultural Office have donated US$100,000 (P5,000,000) to Sorsogon province to aid over Typhoon Tisoy, CNA reported.
Typhoon Tisoy struck the province of Sorsogon where eye of the typhoon made landfall at the town of Gubat. The typhoon's eyewall brought violent winds and intense rains.
TECO representative Michael Hsu presented a cheque for the sum of money to Gilberto Lauengco, vice chairman of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) and witnessed by Sorsogon Governor Francis Escudero.
Escudero expressed thanks for the aid from Taiwan as he called the country as a friend of the Philippines.
The official also looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Taiwan in the areas of agriculture and education.
