Taiwan listed one confirmed case of virus from China while 12 under quarantine


A Taiwanese woman confirmed as the first confirmed case of a new type of coronavirus originating in Wuhan, China, while there are 12  that are currently under quarantine and tight monitoring, according to Taiwan's Centers for Disease Control (CDC).


There are 21 suspected cases of the virus where one has been confirmed and 12 are under quarantine, said Chuang Jen-hsiang spokesman of CDC.

Regarding the confirmed case, the CDC announced Tuesday that reported to quarantine officials that she was suffering from a fever upon arriving at Taoyuan International Airport on Monday.

A 55-year-old Taiwanese woman who works in Wuhan tested positive for the pneumonia-like virus now known as the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). CDC provides an update that the woman has a normal body temperature and respiratory rate after treatment.


According to the CDC, as of Wednesday, 440 cases and nine deaths from the virus have been reported in China and nine cases of the virus have now been reported in areas outside China, including four in Thailand, and one each in Japan, South Korea, the United States, Macau and Taiwan.
