Travelers, regardless of nationality, who have been to China and are found to have "pneumonia-like symptoms" will now be subject to compulsory quarantine, CNA reported.
The new measure took effect Monday after more cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) were confirmed in China and other parts of Asia.
Travelers with a fever will then be asked about their travel history and then be checked by a doctor if the situation warrants it.
CDC also upgraded its travel alert for Wuhan Tuesday, following the report of the country's first confirmed case of a new type of coronavirus, carried by a Taiwanese woman who was recently in the central Chinese city.
The death toll from the new coronavirus outbreak had risen to six in Wuhan as of Monday, according to data released by Chinese health authorities.
China had confirmed 291 cases of patients infected with the virus and reported 43 suspected case as of that day.
