Two earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and magnitude 5.1 shook eastern Taiwan at 7 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Saturday (Feb 15).
The two earthquakes hit on the coast of Hualien. The first one was about 19.2 kilometers southwest of Hualien County Hall and struck at a depth of 10.5 km, according to Taiwan's Seismology Center.
Hualien took an intensity 4 in Taiwan's earthquake range scale, it also reached an intensity of 3 in Taichung and Taoyuan cities and Nantou, Yilan, Changhua, Yunlin and Miaoli counties, and an intensity of 2 in Taipei, New Taipei, Tainan, Chiayi and Hsinchu cities and Hsinchu, Chiayi and Taitung counties.
