A food processing company in Taichung suspended operations Friday for a self-enforced quarantine, after one of its workers was confirmed to have acquired the novel coronavirus.
It was the second company in Taiwan to suspend its operations in four days to prevent the spread of the virus. A wood company, also based in Taichung, suspended its operations as a precautionary measure on Tuesday, affecting 60 workers.

All 59 of the food processor's employees will get full pay while they are off during the 14-day period, the company said.
The food processor said it was not asked by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) to halt its operations, but it decided to do so to protect the health of its staff after a female employee was confirmed as having the coronavirus on Wednesday.
She might have acquired it during a family gathering with her brother, a private driver for hire who died from the coronavirus on Sunday after apparently getting it from a virus-hit Taiwanese businessman from China's Zhejiang Province who he transported on Jan. 22, the CECC said.
Apart from his sister, the driver also infected the husband of his niece, prompting the wood company where the husband worked to halt operations for two weeks.
In the meantime, Taiwan has confirmed two more coronavirus cases as part of another family cluster infection, bringing the total to 26 across the country.
