Some legislators in Taiwan demads that retaliative measures must be taken against the act of Philippines over the travel ban, citing its sudden inclusion of the country to the travel ban.
One example that the legislators demanded is the removal of visa-free entry of Filipinos to Taiwan in a report by CNA. The free-visa is under the Southbound policy of the country.
Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Joanne Ou would not comment on personal statements.
Taiwanese netizens also showed dismay over the travel ban.
"As far as the health community is concerned and the World Health Organization (WHO) is concerned, Taiwan is part of China," according to Philippines Health undersecretary Eric Domingo.
Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Chairman Angelito Banayo said Domingo's statement "was not an official position" because President Rodrigo Duterte does not include Taiwan in the ban order last Feb 2.
