The Philippines imposed travel ban to Taiwan that see overseas Filipinos workers are barred leaving the country making it difficult for the workers.
OFW that are barred from leaving the country fears of having big debt due their lending in which they used the pay the hefty placement fee by the recruitment agencies.
Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) director said that Taiwan is preparing a "reactive measure" against the Philippines which see other nationalities to be hired over Filipinos.
"Ito po yung sa possible retaliatory measures. Imagine kung hindi nai-renew ang kanilang work contracts or ipagbawal ‘yung factories dito ay magbawas ng Pilipino… those are possible retaliatory measures,” MECO director Angelito Banayo said to GMA News.

“Hindi naman sila kasama doon sa naunang travel advisory no’ng February 2. Ngayon, dinagdag sila, lumalabas [na] ang dahilan talaga… ay One China Policy na siyang matinding kinasasama ng loob ng Taiwanese government,” Banayo explained.
