In response to the epidemic prevention and impact of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the governement of Taiwan approved a new law that will give financial subsidy to its quarantined citizens and medical workers.
The Cabinet will put forth a NT$60 billion (US$2 billion) special budget bill for the plan next week, Premier Su Tseng-chang said.
The new law will help areas most affected by the outbreak, such as the restaurant/beverage sector, tourism and transportation.
The plan will be sent to the Legislative Yuan and if passed, will be in effect until the end of June next year.
With some employers refused to pay their workers when quarantined, this act will be the answer so that citizens under quarantine wont breach it.
Additionally, penalties for individuals who disseminate false information regarding the epidemic will be penalized, CNA reported. (CNA Photo)
