The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic hit Taiwan's tourism industry and Yeliu Geopark is highly affected. The park significantly drop visitors by 85%.
According to Yehliu Geopark general manager Yang Jingqian, there are now only 1,000 visitors a day from previous 6,000 per day which is a sharp drop.
The park have arranged pay reductions and unpaid leave for employees. The general manager hopes that the government can help: "Otherwise, the company can only support it for more than one month. Yehliu may have to temporarily close the park."
There are currently 70 employees in the company. Employee salary are reduced by 25% and eqch employee are forced to take 7 days of unpaid leave each month.
If the government will be unable you to support the park, it will be just open for another month and possibly temporary closure.
