Kissing is actually dirty, says former DOH chief amid coronavirus spread
Iloilo Representative and Ex-DOH chief Janette Garin on Wednesday called on the public to stop kissing to prevent a possible widespread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
"Kaya po kapag ikaw ay may ubo, sumasakit ang lalamunan mo, ikaw ay nilalagnat, ikaw ay may sipon, kung ikaw ay may mga sintomas, huwag munang halikan ang ating asawa o atin pong girlfriend, boyfriend," Garin said.
She said she told Health Secretary Francisco Duque III not to be shy telling Filipinos to avoid kissing.
"Ang panawagan nga namin kay Secretary Duque, kausap namin siya kanina, huwag po tayo mahiya na sabihin because kissing, while it is enjoyed by some, is actually dirty," Garin added.
Health officials have been calling on the public to lessen physical contact with other people to avoid being infected with the coronavirus.
The Philippines now has 64 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after the Department of Health added 12 new positive cases on Friday.
Before the development, President Rodrigo Duterte suspended classes at all levels in Metro Manila this week to prevent possible exposure of students to the virus.
