Several Filipino domestic workers in Hong Kong had been fired amid the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak with others are suddenly getting terminated by just a spending couple of hours outside the house.
The fired migrant workers said they are struggling to have new jobs in Hong Kong.
"One thing I can share right now is we are monitoring the situation of workers in Macau. Some of them have been placed on forced leave," said Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator Hans Cacdac via GMA News.
Hong Kong’s foreign domestic workers are growing anxious over their inability to find protective items such as face masks and hand sanitisers as the city grapples with the coronavirus outbreak, SCMP reported.
Some are being fired by employers who decided to leave Hong Kong, while others are being told to return to their home countries until the current public health crisis has been contained.
