The Department of Health confirmed that three patients diagnosed with COVID-19 died in the Philippines. The deceased patients were the 5th, 6th, and 37th cases according to the DOH. To date, COVID-19 claimed 5 lives in the country.
The 6th case was first taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center on March 5 and transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. According to the DOH night of March 11, the patient died.

The 5th was the wife of the 6th case of COVID-19, who also died the night of March 11, 2020 duue to diabetes and hypertension that caused Acute Kidney injury.
Meanwhile, the 37th case was taken to the Philippine Heart Center hospital on March 6, 2020, after experiencing "onset of symptoms" on February 28, 2020. But on March 11, the patient died because of "Acute Respiratory Failure."
On March 12, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered "community quarantine" the Philippine capital Metro Manila to prevent spread of virus.
