The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday, March 14, announced 3 deaths due to coronavirus or COVID-19 raising the death toll to 8 as total cases reached 111.
"PH40 expired late evening of March 13 from Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome due to Severe Pneumoria with concomitant Acute Kidney Injury," the DOH said in a press statement.
One was admitted at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga while DOH still validating data for the 8th death and “will provide information as soon as it is available.”
The DOH urged elderly people and those with underlying medical conditions to be extra cautious.
“We further urge those who are immunocompromised and are with existing health conditions to be more vigilant and avoid crowded areas and mass gatherings,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said recently.
President Rodrigo Duterte has raised the country's health emergency status to the highest level and issued quarantine measures in the Philippine capital.
