Philippines recorded two cases of local coronavirus transmission in the country that push the Department of Health (DOH) to up the nationwide alert level to contain the spread of the virus.
A 62-year-old Filipino man from Cainta, Rizal province, had no recent travel history abroad was the 5th positive case and his 59-year-old wife is the 6th patient tested positive with coronavirus.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III confirmed the news in a press briefing and DOH contract tracing teams have yet to determine how they contracted the virus.
The 6th case now is in stable condition after experiencing mild respiratory symptoms while the 5th case is in critical condition, according to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
