Sen. Sonny Angara to be the 3rd senator positive for COVID-19
Senator Sonny Angara on Thursday became the third Philippine senator to be tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), following earlier announcements made by Senators Migz Zubiri and Koko Pimentel.
Angara said he took the test on March 16 and has remained under isolation. He said he experienced mild fever, cough, headaches, and general weakness while under self-quarantine.
"I regret to announce that today, March 26, I received my test result and it is positive for COVID-19," Angara said in a statement.
"I have not been in contact with the public since taking the test last March 16," he said as he asked for prayers from the public.
Several senators have been on self-quarantine since early March after learning that a resource speaker at a committee hearing in the chamber eventually tested positive for COVID-19.
