The Department of Health on Wednesday (April 8), said that the country now has 252 health workers who have tested positive for the deadly coronavirus disease.
The latest data showed that 65 percent or 152 of the infected health workers are doctors while the remaining 25 percent or 63 are nurses.
The agency did not mention other professions that have contracted the disease.
It is the first time for the DOH to release data about the number of health workers with COVID-19.
Based on the data of Private Hospital Association of the Philippines (PHAP), there are 21 doctors who have already died due to the disease. The association is afflicting these deaths to the patients concealing their information about their condition or country's lack of personal protective equipment (PPE).
