The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation said on Saturday that it will shoulder the medical expenses, worth of P2.8 million, of people infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
"So far ang mataas na sasagutin . . . mga P2.8 million. Hindi pa siya nadi-discharge. Sasagutin ng PhilHealth 'yan," said PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales.
Morales added that Philhealth will not only financially support COVID-19 patients in public hospitals but as well those under treatment on private institutions.
He clarified that the deceased of COVID-19 patients and those who have already paid their hospital bill can reimburse fully all the expenses.
However, Philhealth will not take responsibility to the patients who underwent self-administered treatment and medical test and those admitted on non-accredited hospitals.
