Philippines COVID-19 cases swell to 7,192 with 211 new infections
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday (April 24), reported 211 more individuals who have contracted the new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) bringing the country total to 7,192 cases.
Based on the data shown by the DOH, a total of 762 patients have already recovered from the disease as 40 new recoveries have been recorded today. Meanwhile, with 15 new fatalities, the death toll has already rose to 477.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte have announced his decision for the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon which is supposedly ending on April 30. To continuously prevent the spread of the virus, the President approved the recommended extension of the ECQ until May 15 to areas with high risk to COVID-19 which includes NCR, Region III, Region IV-A, Pangasinan, Benguet, Mindoro, Albay, and Catanduanes.
On the other hand, low risk areas will undergo general community quarantine where some businesses and transactions will be allowed to operate.
