Taiwan president Tsai Ing-wen was not at risk of infection of coronavirus after she attended the ceremony for welcoming the country’s navy units where navy trainees are confirmed contracted the virus.
President Tsai attended the ceremony on April 9 where she remained on the quay at the Zuoying Navy Base in Kaohsiung City. The infected sailors spent Feb. 21 until April 15 on a ship visiting Taiwan’s ally Palau were confirmed as coronavirus cases.
According to Taiwan’s Presidential Office, he president just waved at the crew from onshore, but never boarded any of the ships, quoted by Central News Agency.
More than 700 navy personnel from three vessels were recalled to start quarantine last April 18 (Saturday).
The president instructed the Taiwan Armed Forces to cooperate with the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) and to apply testing and quarantine measures.
