The Taiwan government plans to provide a whopping NT$1.05 trillion in two phases of an economic relief package according to President Tsai Ing-wen.
The fund will be use to give emergency aid to businesses and individuals hit by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, reported by Central News Agency.
The package is expected to reach the NT$1.05 trillion figure after an estimated NT$150 billion is added to the package in the second phase said President Tsai in a speech
This will be the government's response measures relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This came after Premier Su Tseng-chang told a legislative hearing Tuesday that the government's response to the pandemic could reach as much as NT$1 trillion.
Finance Minister Su Jain-rong said that the government's fiscal position has been relatively stable over the past few years and will be able to respond to the pandemic when asked about the source of the funds.
