Taiwan traffic and crowd-tracking app 'Freeway 1968' now ready for use in ios
The Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung last Sunday (April 26) has urged the public to download the Freeway 1968 app that shows real-time highway conditions and crowd warnings,
reported CNA.
Lin said that his ministry and the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) have worked together to come up with a new infection prevention information item to the original traffic app in order to provide the public with data on crowd levels at 234 tourists attractions across Taiwan.
Lin added that the Chungwha Telecom has made the information on crowd conditions through its bulk data, update every ten minutes.
As the May 1 holiday weekend approaches, CECC Chen Shih-chung said that the holiday will be comparatively safe in terms of public health, as Taiwan reported no confirmed domestic COVID-19 cases for the 15th consecutive time on Monday.
The green light means a normal crowd size, the yellow light signals a considerable crowd, and the red light is a warning of overcrowding. The new crowd function of the app has already been made available on iOS and will be functionable for Android by April 29.
