Pay your own COVID-19 test now available to anyone in Taiwan
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced on Friday (May 29), Taiwan now has an adequate testing capacity making it possible to anyone to avail self-pay test for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The CECC said, people who want to get tested for the disease may obtain self-pay test every three months with varying cost depending on the hospital.
Last May 23, the self-pay COVID-19 test was only offered to Taiwanese citizens, foreign nationals, and their family members who wish to travel abroad.
But prior to May 23, only Taiwanese citizens making emergency visits to countries in Southeast Asia, China or Macau were allowed to avail the test.
Websites of some hospitals offering self-pay test show that the cost per test ranges from NT$4,000 (US$133) to NT$13,155.
