Philippines' COVID-19 cases surge to 15,049 with 3,506 recoveries


 The Philippines recorded 15, 049 cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and 3,506 patients who have recovered from the disease as of Wednesday (May 27), based on the bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH).


The agency reported that 380 individuals today have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country while 94 more patients added up to the total number of recoveries. Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 904 with 18 new fatalities.

The DOH said, among the confirmed cases, 10,639 are active cases or undergoing treatment or quarantine. It added that on May 25, only 5,535 tests were performed, lower than the April 30 target of at least 8,000 tests per day.

On the other hand, certified laboratories nationwide have already tested 282,923 individuals for the disease in which 7.6 percent of them have turned out positive.

Earlier, an official of World Health Organization (WHO) have said that the new number of COVID-19 cases in the country have seem to be a bit stabilized but still urging the public to stay at home even after community quarantine is lifted.
