Taiwan's Tourism Bureau in Los Angeles Office announced on Friday (June 26), that Taipei for the third time has won the "best leisure destination in Asia" Leisure Lifestyle Award facilitated by the Global Traveler, a US-based monthly magazine for frequent business and luxury travelers.
Results showed that Taipei topped the survey conducted last Oct. 1, 2019 to Jan. 31, 2020, for this year's Leisure Lifestyle Award by the Global traveler.
Singapore and Seoul came second and third, followed by Tokyo, Phuket in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
According to Brad Shih, director of the Los Angeles office of Taiwan's Tourism Bureau, the recognition gives significant contribution in the country's tourism industry especially in promoting its place in the aftermath of the pandemic.
Aside from the best leisure award, Taiwan was also tagged as the second "best adventure destination, international." Its Taoyuan International Airport also snatched a recognition as it placed fourth in "best airport for layovers," behind Miami International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, and Doha Hamad International Airport.
