Pregnant OFW who returned in PH, now Macau's only COVID-19 case
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Tuesday (July 7), that a pregnant Filipino worker from Macau has tested positive for COVID-19, citing a report by Macau's health officials.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Brigido Dulay said, the six-month pregnant Filipina returned in the Philippines last June 18 to have a vacation. She underwent a four-day quarantine in Manila and flew to Davao where she lives.
The patient is now the only active case of the disease in Macau but health officials in that country claim that it is impossible for her to have contracted the virus given the safe conditions of their city.
“Our preliminary evaluation on the case is that she left Macau on June 18 and had her infection confirmed in early July. Although we’re not familiar with the specific details, judging from the timeline and the current condition in Macau, it’s not likely she contracted the virus in Macau,” said the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Macau.
However, the Philippines and Macau are in active communication to work and dig on the case. The health authorities in Macau said, they are gathering details about the contact history of the patient in the country.
