Taiwan's ASE, Greatek to gain revenues from Sony's Playstation 5 as shipment starts
Backend houses including ASE Technology and Greatek Electronics have kicked off shipments for Sony's new-generation PS5 game console series slated for launch later this year, according to industry sources.
Sony's new-generation PS5 game console shipments are estimated to reach at least 120 million units in the next five years after launch in fourth-quarter 2020.
Shipments will expect ASE and Greatek to gain revenues from the gaming console.
ASE is one of Sony’s primary backend partners and has commenced shipping the next-gen consoles as well. Greatek has indirectly cut into the supply chain of the PS5.
Sony is expecting to sell at least $10 million units in the fourth quarter of 2020 itself. The overall shipments for the PS5 are expected to be 10% higher than its predecessor, PS4.
