Cardinal Tagle shocks everyone as he tests positive for Covid-19 in Ph
Many were surprised that former Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle is in the country and tested positive for COVID-19 after a swab test on Sunday (September 13).
Cardinal Tagle who calls himself as an OFW and now based in the Vatican as one of Pope Francis’ top consultants was supposed to visit them in Cavite during his current summer break.
Based on former secretary Fr. Reginald Malicdem, rector of the Manila Cathedral in Manila, “We were surprised with the news about Cardinal Chito Tagle, and that he is here in the Philippines. I’m also surprised,”
“Fortunately, he is asymptomatic. May I ask you to please have him included in all your daily Mass intentions until he recovers fully from COVID-19 so that he can resume his important ministry for the universal Church?” Caloocan Bishop Pablo Virgilio David said.
The former bishop of his hometown Imus, Tagle is now prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, an office poised to become the second most important in the Catholic Church. He holds the rank of cardinal-bishop, the highest to be given a cardinal, which is held only by only 11 churchmen in the Vatican.
