As the government eases travel restrictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, returning Filipinos or "balikbayan" and even their foreign spouses and children will be allowed to enter the Philippines starting December 7.
According to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 85, signed on November 26, they will be allowed to enter the country on Dec. 7 as long as they can present a pre-booked quarantine facility and undergo COVID-19 testing at a labarotory operating at the airport.
Separate guidelines will be made by the Department of Tourism (DOT) to sufficiently accommodate the foreign nationals that would be entering the country.
“This not only bodes well for our ailing industry but is good tidings for our kababayans who have been clamoring to be reunited with their loved ones from abroad, especially this yuletide season,” sajd Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
Last March, the government restricted the entry of foreigners as a precaution against COVID-19, however, months later the Philippine government allowed foreigners with investor or workong visa to enter the country.
