Affected by the northeast monsoon cold air and moisture, the first snow fell in Yushan, Taiwan's highest peak, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
CWB stated that it began to snow at Yushan Station at 8:20 in the morning (12/21). It has accumulated 0.5 cm, the temperature is -3.1 degrees as the snowfall is continues for 90minutes.
It was the first snowfall in Taiwan's high mountains this winter season.
According to data from the Meteorological Bureau, after Yushan began observation records in 1953, the earliest snowfall fell on October 1, 1986, and the latest was the winter from 2018 to 2019. The first snow fell on January 21, 2019.
CWB also stated that the northeast monsoon continues to affect the country and there is a chance of rainfall in north and northeastern Taiwan
In terms of temperature, the low temperature in northern Taiwa and the eastern half is between 14 and 17 degrees. The temperature in coastal, open areas or near mountainous flats will be lower.
