Large outdoor gatherings and activities surrounding the annual "Christmasland in New Taipei City" event will be halted with immediate effect, following confirmation of the first new domestic case of COVID-19 in Taiwan in 253 days, the city government announced Tuesday.
Activities including the flea market, sports games party and other promotional events are being suspended, the city's Tourism and Travel Department said.
However, visitors are still welcome to view the festive outdoor decorations and artistic lighting displays at Civic Plaza in Banqiao City, where Christmasland is being held until Jan. 3, 2021, it said.
The announcement came after the Central Epidemic Command Center confirmed on the same day Taiwan's first domestic case of COVID-19 since April 12. -Central News Agency
