Two Taiwanese biotechnology companies announced that they will set up a joint face mask production factory line in the Philippines.
Mytrex Health Technologies Inc. to build a production line at a factory in the Philippines owned by Medtecs International Corp., in the first phase of an agreement to produce personal protective equipment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mytrex will make meltblown nonwoven fabric for use as filtration material in surgical face masks produced by Medtecs.
Medtecs a major supplier of healthcare products and is headquartered in Taipei. Medtecs has production bases in the Philippines, China and Cambodia, and Mystrex currently runs factories in Taoyuan.
The first step of the partnership of the companies is the production of masks that will begin in the first quarter of 2021.
Mytrex and Medtecs are optimistic about their business outlook, as many countries have been working to expand PPE production capacity since the pandemic broke out at the end of last year.
