PThe Department of Health or DOH confirmed tonight that B.1.1.7 SARS-Cov-2 or the UK Variant of COVID-19 has been detected in the Philippines for the first time.
The DOH statement stated that the UK Variant was detected from a male passenger who arrived in the country from the UAE on January 7.
He is a resident of Quezon city who left the country on December 27 for Dubai for business purposes and returned to the country on January 7, aboard the Emirates with flight number EK 332.
The patient is now quarantined, as the agency's contact tracing continues.
The DOH also advises Emirates flight EK 332 passengers to contact their BHERTS.
