A 16-year-old male was just peacefully sleeping in a dumpsite in Masbate when he suddenly faced death after a heavy equipment rolled over him last Sunday.
The victim was recognized as Kent Bryan Danao Gerez, a grade 9 student and a resident of Sitio Buri, Brgy. Syndicate of Masbate.
According to reports, it was 4 am in the morning when Gerez and his companions were sleeping in a dumpsite in their barangay owned by Filminera Resources Corporation.
During that time, a DU Triple 7 Caterpillar Truck operated by Ruel Merioles Saldo, 38, of Brgy. Puro, Aroroy, is making its entrance in the dumpsite. Because of darkness, Saldo did not notice any person in the area that is why the victim ended up getting rolled over the heavy equipment.
Gerez died immediately while his companions were marked safe because they were able to stand and run from the truck. On the other hand, the operator has already surrendered to the police.
