World's largest chipmaker Taiwan's TSMC plans to recruit 9,000 new employees


Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) on Friday said it plans to recruit about 9,000 new employees this year to cope with the company's growing business and technology development needs.


TSMC said it was holding a campus job fair that day at National Taiwan University in Taipei, one of a series of similar events over the next few months.


According to the world's largest contract chipmaker, job fairs will be held at nine other colleges in New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, Yunlin and Kaohsiung until April and 3,000 students are expected to attend.


The colleges include National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, Chung Yuan Christian University, Yuan Ze University, Feng Chia University, Tamkang University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology.


TSMC also said it will participate in several other college-organized job fairs later this year, including those held by National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung and National Cheng Kung University in Tainan.


Currently, foundries in Hsinchu, Taichung and Tainan are looking for new talent across a wide range of fields such as electrical engineering, optoelectronics, machinery, physics, production materials, chemicals, finance, management, human resources and labor relations, the company said. -Central News Agency
