A Taiwanese man has received a rare COVID-19 vaccine mix, taking one dose each of the AstraZeneca (AZ), Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, local media reported.
The man gets AstraZeneca on April 21, Pfizer-BioNTech on June 11 and Moderna shot on July 2, according to the report by Chinese-language Apple Daily.
Health authorities have no way of telling if a person has been vaccinated abroad if they do not report it. The man reportedly received three shots about one month apart said Huang Li-min, head of National Taiwan University Hospital’s Department of Pediatrics.
Vaccination dose could increase antibodies and trigger a T-cell response to boost immunity against the COVID-19 virus.
However, due to a lack of clinical data on the safety and efficacy of such a mix, health authorities would not recommend that people try it.
There is no evidence showing that mixing three different brands of vaccine shots could increase one's immunity against the COVID-19, according to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
