Winbond to hire hundreds of engineers for its four fabs in Taiwan

Memorychip maker Winbond Electronics Corp  to hire more than 400 engineers with various specializations for its fabs in Kaohsiung, Taichung, Hsinchu and Taipei.

Winbond is ramping up recruitment efforts to meet increasing demand as its new fab in Kaohsiung is set to increase production next year.

The capacity expansion comes amid the chipmaker’s struggles to keep up with demand and more customers signaling interest in long-term supply deals.

Winbond has increased employee benefits to retain and attract chipmaking talent, as most local electronics companies, semiconductor firms in particular, are struggling to fill job vacancies, the company said.

Winbond is a specialty memory IC company. From product design, research and development, and wafer fabrication to the marketing of brand name products. 

The firm's major product lines include Code Storage Flash Memory, TrustME Secure Flash, Specialty DRAM and Mobile DRAM. The company is the only one in Taiwan with the ability to develop DRAM and FLASH products in-house.
