The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has confirmed that the company of billionaire Manny Villar has seized the frequency previously held by ABS-CBN.
In a statement released by the NTC, it was stated that provisional authority has been given to Advanced Media Broadcasting System, Inc. to use the Mega Manila channel.
“In an Order promulgated 05 January 2022, the NTC granted Advanced Media Broadcasting System, Inc. (AMBS) a Provisional Authority to install, operate and maintain a Digital Television (TV) Broadcasting System in Metro Manila/Mega Manila using Channel 16,” NTC said.
“AMBS was granted the PA after the determination of its legal, technical and financial qualification,” NTC added.
The NTC has approved that AMBS can conduct a test broadcast on Channel 2 until 2023.
It will be recalled that in 2020, ABS-CBN was not granted their franchise renewal, which caused them to disappear from free television.
