OFWs inoculated with Gamaleya Sputnik will not be granted a visa to work in Taiwan based on the statement of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) to BusinessMirror.
Filipinos vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines granted Emergency Use Listing by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Taiwan will be accepted.
“Foreign workers shall be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in the country of origin before their entry into Taiwan. The COVID-19 vaccines includes those granted Emergency Use Listing (EUL) by the World Health Organization or granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare,” the TECO official said in a statement.
Sputnik V has not been granted EUL status citing pending legal procedures and missing data
"The first two shots should be vaccines granted Emergency Use Listing (EUL) by the World Health Organization or granted emergency use authorization (EUA) by Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare,” the official added.
Taiwan has only given EUL to AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech and its domestically developed COVID-19 vaccine Medigen.
OFWs who have received Sputnik V as primary dose and received booster vaccine shots will still not be eligible to enter Taiwan.
