Isko Moreno urge the government to make an evacuation plan for more than 150,000 Filipinos living and working in Taiwan in case Chine take action like Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"Habang maaga pa magamit o hindi magamit, mabuti nang handa tayo," said Moreno in an ambush interview by CNN.
Moreno highlighted the logistical difficulty of repatriating such a huge number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Taiwan.
“In the case of Taiwan, nag-aalala ako sa mga kababayan nating Pilipino doon. Kasi pag nagkaroon ng insidente o crisis sa Taiwan Strait, maaapektuhan kaagad yung mga kababayan nating OFWs, mga Pilipino na 150,000 of them,” Moreno said kn a separate inteview with Inquirer.
A Reuters report stated that Taiwan is currently in a heightened state amid the situation in Ukraine over fears that China may take advantage of the situation.
Moreno said that even though the evacuation plan will not be used, what is important is for the government to be prepared.
