Senate Bill filed by Revilla, aims to lower the senior age to 56 years old

Senator Bong Revilla is now promoting the lowering of the legal age to be considered a senior citizen in the country.

Under Senate Bill No.  1753 - the law is amended to lower the senior citizen age from 60 years old to 56 years old.

According to Revilla, with this method, senior citizens will get their benefits sooner.

He said, while there is still time, the elderly should be given value, especially because it is their hands that shaped whatever good things we enjoy today.

"At least e maa-avail na lang nila ang discount. Siyempre ang titingnan na lang yung sa negosyo," Revilla said.

At the time of enactment, 56-year-old Filipino citizens will be able to receive a 20% discount and exemption from value added tax on some essential services such as medicines and others.

The bill seeks to amend Republic Act 7432 or the Senior Citizens Act, needs to be studied carefully, especially its implications on government interests and the Philippine labor force.
