DOST Scholarship 2024 now open for students, offers good benefits and allowances

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) had opened the application for DOST Scholarship 2024 with good benefits for qualified students pursuing education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

DOST Scholarship Benefits:

A. Regular Academic Year

1. Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs) ₱40,000.00 / year

2. Book Allowance ₱10,000.00 / year

3. Monthly Living Allowance ₱7,000.00 / month

4. Transportation Allowance (for those studying outside of home province)1 economy-class roundtrip fare

5. Group Health and Accident Insurance Premium

6. Thesis Allowance ₱10,000.00

7. Graduation Allowance ₱1,000.00

B. Summer Allowance (if required in the curriculum)

1. Tuition and other school fees ₱1,500.00

2. Book Allowance ₱500.00 (to submit Official Receipt)

3. Monthly Living Allowance ₱7,000.00 / month for two months

Who are qualified?

A. All graduating Grade 12 students who belong to the STEM class

B. Non-STEM students who belong to the top 5% of the graduating class

C. All Grade 12 students belonging to the STEM class who graduated before SY 2022-2023 but have not enrolled in college

D. All non-STEM students who belong to the top 5% of the graduating class who graduated before SY 2022-2023, but have not enrolled in college

E. Graduates of high school before the K-12 program who belong to the top 5% of the graduating class

F. Must have grades in Grade 9, 10, and 11 or scores in the Philippine Education Placement Test Certificate of Rating if skipped a grade

G. Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen

H. Must be of good moral character and in good health

I. May have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not qualify for the scholarship

J. May have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not avail of the award

K. Must not have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units

761,150 katao, balik bilang benepiyaryo ng 4PS program

Sinabi ni DSWD Undersecretary for Innovations Edu Punay na may 761,150 na kabahayan ang kailangang mapanatili sa listahan ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Sinabi ni Punay na ang bilang ng mga kabahayan na mananatili sa 4Ps ay natukoy bilang resulta ng muling pagtatasa ng mga benepisyaryo alinsunod sa direktiba ni DSWD Sec Rex Gatchalian.

"Ibig sabihin, sila po ay hindi ga-graduate; tuluy-tuloy po sila sa programa po natin dahil sa assessment po, nakita po ng ating departamento na sila po ay talagang mahirap pa rin at nangangailangan pa rin ng assistance under the 4Ps program," sabi ni Punay.

Ang 761,150 na kabahayan ay bahagi ng 1.1 milyong kabahayan na naunang na-assess bilang non-poor sa ilalim ng Listahanan 3 ng National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR).

Sa 1.1 milyong miyembro ng 4Ps, 339,660 kabahayan ang na-assess bilang Level 3 o self-sufficient na inirerekomenda para sa graduation o exit sa programa.

Sinabi ni Punay na ang pananatili ng karamihan sa mga miyembro ng 4Ps ay dulot ng epekto ng pandemya, batay sa assessment report ng departamento.

"Ang ginagawa po dito sa mga graduations po natin, sila po ay ini-endorse sa mga local government units at binibigyan din natin ng mga iba’t ibang assistance or mga programa tulad ng Sustainable Livelihood Program para matulungan pa rin sila kahit wala na sila sa 4Ps program po ay sila’y tuluy-tuloy na bibigyan ng assistance ng pamahalaan," dagdag ni Punay.

Ang 4Ps ay ang national poverty reduction strategy at isang human capital investment program ng gobyerno na nagbibigay ng conditional cash transfer sa mga kwalipikadong household-beneficiaries.
